Teamer Is Closing on 5 October. Here Is How to Move Your Team in an Evening

Tommy · · 6 min read

If you organise a football team on Teamer, you will have had the email: Teamer closes on Monday 5 October 2026. The Pitchero Group, which owns Teamer, is putting its money into Pitchero and PitcheroGPS instead. Premium subscriptions were cancelled in September so nobody is charged for October, and after the 5th your account, your members list, your events and your payment history are gone.

The awkward part is that Teamer has no export button. Whatever you want to keep, you copy out by hand before the date. This post is the practical version of that: what to save, what you are actually losing, and how to have the same team running in Squadd before your next fixture. I built Squadd, so read it with that in mind, but I have tried to keep it straight, including the one thing Squadd does not do yet.

First, before anything else: save these four things from Teamer

Do this this week, not on 4 October.

  1. Your members list. Open your team, go to the members screen and take screenshots until you have everyone, including parents' names if they are on there. Phone numbers and emails are the bit you cannot rebuild from memory.
  2. Your upcoming events. Screenshot the fixtures and training sessions you have already put in. Dates, times, venues, opponents.
  3. Your payment history, if you collected money through Teamer. Screenshot the paid and unpaid list for anything still outstanding, and note the totals you have collected this season. Once the platform closes, that record is not coming back, and your treasurer will want it.
  4. Your group messages you actually need, such as the pitch booking reference or the league contact's number. Everything else can go.

If you are the only admin, give a second person these screenshots too. Teams lose more to one phone than to one app.

What Teamer did, and where Squadd is different

Teamer was a simple, free, any-sport organiser: members, events, "are you in?" replies, group messages, and in-app card payments with a fee. That simplicity is why so many Sunday-league and junior teams used it, and it is worth being honest about what changes.

Teamer Squadd
Built for Any sport Football only, youth and adult
Members and invites Members list, invite players and parents Squad with player profiles, parent links, medical and emergency details; adult players join and manage themselves
Events and availability Training, matches, socials; replies by push or email Fixtures, match days and training in one calendar; availability with automatic reminders; a calendar feed for parents' phones
Team selection Basic Line-ups in a formation, fair playing-time rotation, live match recording, minutes, match reports, Player of the Match
Messaging In-app messages, private and public groups; Premium added SMS Team newsfeed and polls in the free tier; team chat and a coaches-only channel in Pro
Stats None to speak of Season stats, form chart, top scorers, end-of-season Wrapped
Money Collected card payments in-app, fee from 2.9% + 20p, reminders Tracks subs and one-off charges, chases parents automatically, shows each family what they owe; you collect by bank transfer or cash and mark it paid
Price Free with adverts; Premium removed them Free tier with no adverts; Pro from £4.99 a month, four-week trial on every new team
Extras Build a whole season from a photo of the league fixture list, find a friendly, multi-team accounts

So the straight answer on the one gap: Squadd does not take card payments in the app today. It keeps the ledger, works out who owes what, nudges the parents who have not paid, and gives them the bank details and a reference to copy. Most teams collected that way before Teamer added cards, and it costs the club nothing. In-app collection is being looked at; I am not going to promise a date.

Everything else Teamer did is in Squadd's free tier, and the match-day side (line-ups, fair minutes, live scores, stats) is the part Teamer never had.

Setting the team up in Squadd: about an hour, spread over a week

1. Create the team (10 minutes). Download Squadd, create your team, pick youth or adult, and set your age group and format. The four-week trial turns on everything, so you can try the Pro features before deciding whether you want them.

2. Get your players in without typing them all (the clever bit).

  • Adult teams: you do not need to enter anyone. Post your Squadd squad code in your Teamer group or WhatsApp. Each player installs the app, joins with the code, and you approve them. They manage their own availability from then on.
  • Junior teams: add your players from the screenshots, then send the parent invite. Squadd writes the WhatsApp message for you; one link works for every parent in the squad, and each parent links to their own child when they join.

3. Put the season in from the fixture list, not one match at a time. Take a photo of your league's fixture list, or paste the text, and Squadd builds the fixtures. Then add your training slot once and it repeats. Your calendar for the season is done in one sitting.

4. Subs and match fees. Set your monthly amount and the day it is due, or add a one-off charge for sign-on or kit. From then on Squadd shows each parent what is owed, reminds them, and keeps the paid and unpaid list you used to keep in your head.

5. Tell everyone the date. The move is only done when the last parent has joined. A message in the old Teamer group on the day you switch, and one reminder a week before 5 October, is usually enough.

The other doors: Pitchero and Spond

Pitchero is offering Teamer users a discounted move onto Pitchero itself. That is a full club-website platform, and if you run a whole club that wants a website, registrations and sponsorship pages, it is worth a look. For a single team it is more than you need.

You will see Spond recommended too, and it is a good free organiser for any sport with payments built in. The difference is the football: fair playing time tracked to the minute, line-ups, live match recording, player stats and no adverts. I wrote an honest comparison of the two here. If the money side matters most to you today, Spond has it; if the match day matters most, that is what Squadd is for.

The short version

Teamer closes on 5 October. Screenshot your members, events and payment records this week. Create your team in Squadd, let adult players join themselves with the squad code or send junior parents the invite message, build the season from a photo of the fixture list, and set up subs so nobody has to chase. The whole thing is an evening's work, and the team is running on something that is not going anywhere.
