Player Accounts & Senior Teams
Overview
Squadd supports senior and adult teams as well as youth squads. On a senior team, players don't go through a parent or guardian — each player gets their own login to set their availability, see fixtures, and view their own season stats.
This article covers setting a team up as senior, inviting players, approving them onto the squad, and what players can see and do.
Making your team a senior team
- New team: when creating your team, answer "Who's this team for?" with Adults (senior). You won't be asked for a youth age group, and the format defaults to 11v11.
- Existing team: go to Settings → Edit team and switch "Who's this team for?" to Adults (senior). You can switch back at any time.
On a senior team, parent-specific prompts (like "invite parents" or "needs parent") are replaced with player equivalents across the app.
Inviting your players
- Go to Settings → Invite Members.
- Use the Quick player invite card — one tap creates a WhatsApp-ready message with your invite link.
- Drop the link in your squad's group chat. Every player uses the same link.
Each player taps the link, signs up (or logs in), and confirms their name. That sends a join request to you.
Approving players onto the squad
When a player confirms their name, you'll see a badge on the Squad tab. Open Link Requests to review:
- If their name matches a player you've already added (and nobody else has claimed it), approving links them to that existing record — their goals, minutes and history stay intact.
- If they're not in your squad list yet, approving creates their player record and adds them to the squad in one go.
- Not expecting them? Reject the request.
Each player record can only be claimed by one account, and you stay in control of every approval.
What players can do
A player on your team can:
- Set their own availability for fixtures, match days and training
- See the fixture list and schedule
- View their own season stats (goals, assists, minutes, training attendance)
Players can't manage the squad, edit fixtures, record live matches, or see other players' private details (like medical or contact info) — those stay with coaches and admins.
Inviting one specific player
You can also invite a single player directly: open their profile from the Squad tab and use "Invite [name] to self-manage". This sends a personal link that connects them straight to their record when they sign up — no approval step needed, because you started it.
Turning a player's access off
Open the player's profile from the Squad tab and choose "Turn off self-management". Their login loses its link to the player record, and you manage their availability again.
FAQs
Can a team have both parents and players?
Yes. The roles work side by side — useful for youth teams moving towards older age groups, or adult squads with a volunteer manager. Full self-management for youth players (with the right safeguards) is on the roadmap.
A player signed up with a nickname and wasn't matched. What do I do?
Approve the request with "Approve & add to squad" (creating a new record), or reject it and ask them to resend with the name you use in the squad list. You can also tidy duplicates from the Squad tab.
Do players pay for Squadd?
No — joining a team is free for players, just like parents. Pro is a team-level upgrade.
