Marking Half Time and Full Time
Prerequisite: Recording a Live Match
Overview
Squadd's match timer runs continuously once you tap Start Match. Marking half time pauses the timer between halves, and marking full time closes the match and sends the result to parents.
Marking Half Time
When the referee blows for the break:
- Tap Half Time on the live match screen
- The timer pauses — minutes stop accumulating for all players
- Use the break to check the fairness tracker and plan your second-half subs
💡 The timer pauses at the actual minute you tap. If you forget to tap immediately, the minutes tracker will slightly overcount — tap as close to the actual whistle as you can.
Starting the Second Half
When play resumes:
- Tap Second Half
- The timer resumes from where it paused
- Any substitutions you make at half time should be recorded after tapping Second Half, so they're logged against the correct minute
Marking Full Time
When the final whistle blows:
- Tap Full Time on the live match screen
- Confirm the action when prompted
What happens immediately:
- The match status changes to Completed
- Player minutes are finalised
- A push notification is sent to all coaches and parents with the final score and scorers
- The fixture detail screen shows the result
After marking full time, you're taken to the match report screen to rate players, pick Man of the Match, add coach notes, and publish the summary to the feed.
If You Marked Full Time Too Early
If you tapped Full Time by mistake before the match was actually over:
- Open the fixture detail
- Tap Reset to In Progress (visible to coaches on the fixture detail screen)
- The match status returns to In Progress and you can continue recording events
⚠️ Any push notifications already sent (the full-time result notification) cannot be recalled. If the score changes after the reset, parents will receive an updated notification when you mark full time again.
Matches Without Half Time
Some formats or age groups play without a formal half-time break, or you may simply not want to pause the timer. You don't have to tap Half Time — you can go straight from Start Match to Full Time if the format calls for it.
The half-time button is optional. Skipping it has no effect on goal recording, substitutions, or player minutes — Squadd just won't have a half-time marker in the event log.
Frequently Asked Questions
I forgot to tap Half Time — does it matter?
Only for the event log. The timer keeps running through the break, which means any minutes recorded during half time count toward player totals. If players were genuinely off the pitch, this is a minor inaccuracy. For accurate stats, try to tap Half Time as close to the whistle as possible.
Can I add goals or cards during the half-time break?
Yes — events are not locked during half time. If a card was shown at the end of the first half, record it whenever you have a moment.
The parents didn't get a full-time notification — what should I check?
See Parents Aren't Receiving Notifications.
What if the match goes to extra time or penalties?
Record extra time as a continuation — don't mark Full Time until the match is genuinely over. For penalty shootouts, record the goals manually. The final score entered on the match report is what counts for season stats.
