How to complete the Match Report in Squadd

The Match Report is the final step after every game. It pulls together everything recorded during the live match — goals, saves, and the result — and gives you the chance to award Man of the Match, recognise your goalkeeper, and add your own notes before the match record is complete.

Getting to the Match Report

The Match Report opens automatically after you tap Full Time on the Live Match screen.

If you've already tapped Full Time and want to return to the Match Report, navigate to the Fixtures tab, find the fixture in the Results section, and tap it to access the completed match record.

What the Match Report shows

When the Match Report opens, you'll see:

[Screenshot: Match Report screen — full view showing the result card at the top ("v Northside United · 2–1 · Sun 17 May"), the GOALS section with a list of goal events, the SAVES section, the MAN OF THE MATCH section with a "Pick MOTM" button, the GOALKEEPER OF THE MATCH section with a "Pick GK of the Match" button, and the top of the COACH NOTES section below.] The Match Report screen — results, goals, saves, and award sections all in one place.

Result card — the final score and date at the top of the screen.

GOALS section — every goal recorded during the live match, listed with the scorer's name, any assist, and the minute. Opposition goals are shown as "Opposition [N]'".

SAVES section — the total saves recorded per goalkeeper during the match (requires the Goalkeeper tracking module to be active).

MAN OF THE MATCH section — tap to select your MOTM.

GOALKEEPER OF THE MATCH section — tap to select your GK of the Match (requires the Goalkeeper tracking module).

COACH NOTES section — a free-text field for your own notes about the match.

📝 Note — If you don't see the MAN OF THE MATCH section, check that the Man of the Match module is turned on in Settings > Optional Modules. Similarly, GOALKEEPER OF THE MATCH only appears when the Goalkeeper tracking module is active.

Step 1 — Review goals and saves

Check the GOALS list against what you remember from the match. This is populated by the + Goal taps recorded during the live match.

If any goals are missing or incorrectly attributed, make a note — options for correcting individual match events after the fact are limited within the Match Report screen.

Step 2 — Award Man of the Match

  1. Tap "Pick MOTM" in the MAN OF THE MATCH section.

  2. Select the player from the list.

[Screenshot: Match Report screen showing the MAN OF THE MATCH section in its pre-award state — a "Pick MOTM" button visible. Red box around the "Pick MOTM" button.] Tap "Pick MOTM" to choose your Man of the Match.

  3. The selected player's name appears with a ⭐ icon and a "Tap to change" label.

[Screenshot: Match Report screen showing the MAN OF THE MATCH section after selection — ⭐ followed by the player's name (e.g. "Mason Clarke") and "Tap to change" text beneath. Red box around the awarded section.] After selecting, the player's name shows with "Tap to change" — you can update your choice at any time before saving.

💡 Tip — Changed your mind? Tap "Tap to change" to select a different player. Your choice is not locked until you save the Match Report.

Step 3 — Award GK of the Match

  1. Tap "Pick GK of the Match" in the GOALKEEPER OF THE MATCH section.

  2. Select the goalkeeper from the list.

  3. The selected player's name appears with a 🧤 icon and a "Tap to change" label.

[Screenshot: Match Report screen showing both award sections in their post-award state — ⭐ Mason Clarke as MOTM with "Tap to change", and 🧤 Ethan Brooks as GK of the Match with "Tap to change".] Both awards selected — MOTM and GK of the Match. Tap "Tap to change" on either to revise.

📝 Note — Man of the Match and GK of the Match are coach-only awards. Parents cannot select or change them. If you have the Parents' Player of the Match module enabled, parents vote for a separate award through their own app. See Man of the Match and GK of the Match explained and Parents' Player of the Match.

Step 4 — Add coach notes (optional)

The COACH NOTES section lets you add your own written notes about the match — observations, things to work on, or a record of how the game went.

🔒 Coach Notes are private to coaching staff only — parents and players cannot see them. Use this section freely for personal observations, things to work on, or anything you wouldn't want shared with the wider team.

Step 5 — Publish or save the Match Report

At the bottom of the Match Report screen there are two buttons:

  • "Save draft" — saves the report privately without posting anything to the Feed. Use this if you want to record the result but aren't ready to share the match summary yet.
  • "Publish to feed" — saves the report and immediately publishes the MATCH SUMMARY post to your team's Feed. This is the button to tap when you're ready to share the result.

[Screenshot: Bottom of the Match Report screen showing two buttons — a secondary "Save draft" button and a green "Publish to feed" button.] Two options: save privately as a draft, or publish the match summary to the Feed immediately.

📝 Note — If you have previously published this report and return to make changes, the "Publish to feed" button changes to "Update & repost" — this updates the existing match summary post in the Feed with the revised information.

What happens after saving

Two things happen automatically when you complete the Match Report:

1. A MATCH SUMMARY post is published to your team's Feed.

Squadd auto-generates a post with the result, MOTM, GK of the Match, and save count. It appears with a MATCH SUMMARY badge so parents and players can see the match outcome at a glance.

[Screenshot: Feed screen showing the auto-generated MATCH SUMMARY post — post card with "MATCH SUMMARY" badge, "Match Report: v Northside United" title, result, MOTM name, GK of the Match name, saves count, and a "View fixture" link.] The auto-generated MATCH SUMMARY post on the Feed — Squadd publishes this automatically when you complete the Match Report.

2. The fixture moves to the Results section of the Fixtures screen (once published — drafts may not immediately move to Results).

The completed match appears in the Results section with the final score and a Full Time badge.

📝 Note — Individual GOAL posts (with a GOAL badge) are generated in the Feed during the live match itself when the opposition scores — not when the Match Report is saved. By the time you complete the Match Report, those posts may already be visible in your Feed.

Tips

💡 Tip — Complete the Match Report as soon as possible after the final whistle — while the goals and key moments are still fresh. The GOALS list gives you a prompt if you need to remember who scored.

💡 Tip — Even if you don't want to award MOTM every game, opening the Match Report and saving it completes the fixture record and publishes the match summary to your Feed.

💡 Tip — If your team didn't use Goalkeeper tracking, the SAVES section and GK of the Match section won't appear. The Match Report is still fully usable without them.

Troubleshooting

I can't see the Man of the Match section. The MOTM section only appears if the Man of the Match module is turned on. Go to Settings > Optional Modules and enable it. See Man of the Match.

I can't see the GK of the Match section. This section requires the Goalkeeper tracking module to be active. Go to Settings > Optional Modules and enable it. See Goalkeeper tracking.

The GOALS list is wrong — a goal is missing or attributed to the wrong player. The goals list is populated by what was tapped during the live match. Limited editing of individual match events from the Match Report screen has not been confirmed. Record what you can with the available information and use the COACH NOTES field to document discrepancies.

A MATCH SUMMARY post hasn't appeared in the Feed after I saved. Check that you tapped "Publish to feed" rather than "Save draft". A draft saves the report privately without publishing to the Feed. Return to the fixture in the Results section, open the Match Report, and tap "Publish to feed" to share it.

I completed the Match Report but want to change the MOTM. Return to the fixture via Fixtures > Results and tap to open the completed match record. Whether awards can be revised after the Match Report is saved has not been confirmed from screenshots.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to award Man of the Match?

No. You can complete and save the Match Report without selecting an MOTM. If you leave the module on but don't pick anyone, the MATCH SUMMARY post will publish without an MOTM name.

Can parents see what I've written in Coach Notes?

Yes — Coach Notes are visible to all team members, including parents and players. They are not a private field. If you want to keep personal coaching observations to yourself, record them outside of Squadd.

What's the difference between Man of the Match and Parents' Player of the Match?

Man of the Match (MOTM) is selected by you, the coach, on the Match Report screen. Parents' Player of the Match (POTM) is voted for by parents through a separate module. They are independent awards. See Parents' Player of the Match.

Can I complete the Match Report days after the match?

Yes — the Match Report is accessible from the Results section of the Fixtures screen and can be completed at any time after Full Time is tapped. However, the MATCH SUMMARY post will publish to the Feed whenever you save it, even if that's several days later.

The fixture isn't showing in Results — where is it?

If the match hasn't moved to Results, it may not have had Full Time tapped during the live session. Check the Fixtures screen — if it's still showing under Upcoming Matches, the live match may not have been completed.
