Player of the Match
Overview
The Player of the Match module lets the coach pick a standout player on the match report. On a match day with several games, the separate Player of the Day module gives you one award for the whole day. Both are on by default, both accumulate over the season and appear on the Stats tab, and each has its own toggle, so you can run either, both or neither.
It used to be called Man of the Match. Only the name changed: every award you've already picked is still there.
Selecting Player of the Match
Player of the Match is picked on the match report screen, before or after publishing.
- Open the fixture → Match Report
- Scroll to the Player of the Match section
- Tap Pick Player of the Match to open the player picker. It lists the match-day squad (the players who were involved in this match; over-cap reserves and no-shows are excluded)
- Select the player and save the report
Your pick is included in the match summary post when you publish to the feed.
💡 If Goalkeeper Tracking is enabled, a Goalkeeper of the Match picker appears on the same screen, just below Player of the Match. It works the same way and is scoped to the same match-day squad.
Player of the Day on match days
At a festival or tournament you might want one award for the player who stood out across every game, rather than a Player of the Match for each game. That's Player of the Day.
- Open the match day (Fixtures, then the match day card)
- Below the list of games, find Player of the Day (its own module, on by default). It appears from the day of the match onwards, once the day has at least one game
- Tap Pick Player of the Day and choose from the day's squad. Anyone with minutes recorded in one of the games is listed too
- To share it, tap Share to team feed. This posts it to the feed and sends your team a notification
You can change or clear the pick at any time by tapping the player. Everyone on the team sees the award on the match day screen once it's picked, and each game's report links to it.
Player of the Day doesn't replace anything. You can still pick a Player of the Match for individual games if you want to, and if Parents' Player of the Match is on, parents still vote on each game as normal.
Player of the Match in Season Stats
Each pick adds 1 to that player's ⭐ count on the Stats tab. A Player of the Day adds 1 to their 🏅 Player of the Day count, which appears on a player's stats once they've won it. Both counts are visible to parents when stats are shared with them, and both appear in the Season Review pack for presentation night.
Turning either award off
If you coach younger players (U7 and below) where singling out individuals isn't appropriate, or you simply never pick a Player of the Match and would rather not see a ⭐ column of zeros against every player:
- Go to Settings → Team modules → Customise features
- Toggle Player of the Match and / or Player of the Day off
They're separate toggles. Turning Player of the Match off removes the picker from the match report and the ⭐ column from the Stats tab, and leaves Player of the Day exactly as it was, which is what most festival coaches want. Turning Player of the Day off removes the card from match days. Existing awards are preserved either way and reappear if you re-enable the module.
Player of the Match vs Parents' Player of the Match
These are two separate awards:

Both awards can be enabled simultaneously and appear independently on the match report and stats. On an adult team the vote is Players' Player of the Match, and the players vote.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I change Player of the Match after publishing the report?
Yes. Edit the match report, change your pick, and tap Update report. The feed post updates to reflect the new selection.
Can more than one player be Player of the Match for the same match?
No. Only one player can be selected per match.
Do I have to pick a Player of the Match for every game at a festival?
No. Pick one for each game, one Player of the Day for the whole day, both, or neither. Nothing is required.
Can parents see who was Player of the Match?
Yes. Your pick is included in the match summary post on the feed, and in the ⭐ column on the Stats tab when stats are shared with parents.
