Parents' Player of the Match

Overview

Parents' Player of the Match lets parents vote for their favourite player after each completed match. It runs alongside the coach's own Player of the Match pick. They are entirely separate awards.

On an adult team it's called Players' Player of the Match, and the players vote. Everything below works the same way.

Parents get one vote per match. Coaches see the full count and exactly who voted for whom. Parents see their own vote and, once voting closes, the winner.

Turning It On

  1. Go to Settings → Team modules → Customise features
  2. Toggle Parents' Player of the Match on

Once it's on, every completed match gets a voting section. Parents find it on the fixture screen, and on the match page the full-time notification opens. You find it on the fixture screen and on the match report.

How Voting Works

When voting opens

Voting opens the moment the match finishes: when you tap Full Time on the live match screen, or when you save the result of a match you didn't record live. It doesn't wait for the match report, so parents can vote while you're still writing it, and the 3-hour countdown starts straight away.

If you recorded the match live, parents get a notification at full time with the score. Tapping it opens the match, with the vote ready. A result logged after the match doesn't send a notification. When you publish the match report, the feed post includes a reminder to vote if voting is still open.

Who can vote

Every parent in the team gets one vote per match. They can vote for any player in the match-day squad (the players involved in this match; over-cap reserves and no-shows are left out). There's no restriction to their own child.

How parents vote

Parents open the match from the full-time notification or the Fixtures tab, scroll to Parents' Player of the Match and tap the player they want to vote for. The vote counts straight away, and Change vote lets them pick again while voting is still open.

When voting closes

Voting closes automatically 3 hours after full time. There's no manual step. While the poll is open, a live "Voting closes in…" countdown shows on the fixture so everyone can see how long is left. Once the countdown reaches zero the result is final.

If there's a tie

When two or more players finish on the same highest number of votes, they share the award. Each gets a win added to the 👍 column in season stats.

What Coaches See

Coaches and admins see the full breakdown: each player's vote total, their share of the votes, and which parents voted for which player. It's on the fixture screen and on the match report.

This helps you understand which players the parent community is recognising, and spot any patterns (for example every parent in the squad voting for the same child regardless of performance).

What Parents See

Parents see:

  • The players to vote for, until they've voted
  • Their own vote ("You voted for X"), with Change vote while voting is open
  • The winner, once voting closes

Parents never see vote counts, percentages or who voted for whom, so nobody can tell which children got few or no votes.

In Season Stats

The 👍 column on the Stats tab counts how many times a player won the vote, not raw vote totals. If a player received the most votes in 6 out of 12 matches, their count is 6.

This column is visible to parents when stats are shared with them.

Tips for Getting the Most from It

  • Announce it in the team feed the first time you turn it on: parents often don't notice new sections unless prompted
  • Nudge parents to vote on the day: the poll only stays open for 3 hours after full time, so a quick "voting's open" message while everyone's still buzzing gets the most votes in
  • Use it as a conversation starter: the results often reflect something the coaching staff didn't see from the sideline

Frequently Asked Questions

Can coaches vote?
Yes. A coach's vote counts alongside the parents' votes, and coaches see the full breakdown.

Do I need to publish the match report before parents can vote?
No. Voting opens at full time whether or not the report is published, and closes 3 hours later either way. If you publish while voting is still open, the feed post reminds parents to vote.

Can a parent vote for their own child?
Yes, there's no restriction. It's expected and normal.

Can I close voting early, or extend it?
No. The 3-hour window after full time is fixed and closes on its own. There's no minimum number of votes; whoever's ahead when the countdown ends wins.

Does turning the module off lose past results?
No. Wins in season stats are kept even if you turn the module off, and you can turn it back on at any time.

Can I see total vote counts across the whole season?
The Stats tab shows how many times each player won. Raw vote totals across the season aren't added up, only wins.
