Awarding stickers

Overview

Character stickers celebrate the things that never make the scoresheet: effort, bravery, listening, being a good team-mate. After a game you tap a sticker onto any player who earned one, and it goes into their sticker book for the season. Their family gets a notification about it.

There are 12 stickers: Effort, Never Quit, Team Player, Team Lift, Brave Today, Light Bulb, Great Listener, Laser Focus, Most Improved, Fair Play, Kind Heart and Session Star.

The Character stickers module is on for every new team, and awarding stickers is part of Squadd Pro. Coaches and team admins award them. Parents and players can't.

Awarding stickers after a game

You can award stickers as soon as a game has finished: after you tap Full Time on the live match, or once you've logged the result. You don't need to publish the match report first.

  1. Open the game: tap the Fixtures tab, then tap the match in Results
  2. Tap Award stickers. It sits just under the match report button
  3. Each player has a card showing all 12 stickers. Tap a sticker to award it. It fills with its colour, and the player's card lists what they've earned
  4. Tapped the wrong one? Tap it again to take it back
  5. When you've finished, tap Back. There's nothing to save: each sticker is saved the moment you tap it

The count at the top of the screen shows how many stickers you've awarded for that game.

💡 The Match Report has an Award stickers button too, with the awards below Man of the Match. It's there whether the report is still a draft or already published, so you can do both straight after the final whistle.

Session Star is one per game

🌟 Session Star is for the standout player of the game, and only one player can have it for each game. Once you've given it, the Session Star on everyone else's card is greyed out.

To give it to someone else, tap it on the player who has it to take it back, then tap it on the new player.

Every other sticker can go to as many players as you like, and a player can earn the same sticker again in later games. Each one adds to their count for the season.

Stickers at a match day or festival

Each game on a match day has its own stickers and its own Session Star, so a player can be Session Star in one game and someone else in the next. You don't need to open every game to award them:

  1. Open the match day (Fixtures, then the match day card)
  2. Scroll below the list of games to Stickers. Every game you've played has a row showing how many stickers it has so far
  3. Tap a game to award its stickers, then tap Back to return to the match day and pick the next game

What families see

A notification. Each family gets one notification for the game, naming the stickers their child earned. It goes out about ten minutes after you award that child's last sticker, so nobody is told halfway through, and a sticker you take back within that time is never sent. Notifications go out between 8am and 9pm, so a sticker awarded late in the evening is sent the next morning.

The notification reaches parents who have joined your team in Squadd with notifications turned on (on a senior team, the players themselves). Coaches don't get one.

The game's page. Tapping the notification opens the game, where the family sees their own child's stickers alongside the score.

The sticker book. Every player has a sticker book showing how many of each sticker they've earned this season, with their Session Stars at the top.

Squadd Wrapped. Stickers appear in each player's Squadd Wrapped at the end of the season.

Finding a player's sticker book

  1. Tap the Squad tab
  2. Press and hold the player's name
  3. Tap Sticker book

Parents see their own children's sticker books, and players on a senior team see their own. Coaches can open any player's book, and it's also on the player card (tap Stickers).

The book counts stickers from the start of your current season, so it starts again from zero when you start a new season in Squadd. Stickers from earlier seasons are kept.

Turning stickers off

Only a Team Admin can change this:

  1. Go to Settings → Team modules → Customise features
  2. Toggle Character stickers off

The Award stickers buttons and the sticker books disappear, and families stop getting sticker notifications. Stickers already awarded are kept and come back if you turn the module on again.

Frequently asked questions

I can't see Award stickers. Why not?
Check that:

  • the game has finished. A game that hasn't kicked off, or is still in progress, doesn't show it yet. Tap Full Time on the live match, or log the result
  • Character stickers is on in Settings → Team modules → Customise features
  • you're a coach or admin on that team. Parents and players don't award stickers

Do I have to publish the match report first?
No. Stickers are separate from the report. Award them before or after you publish, or without publishing at all.

Can I award stickers a few days after the game?
Yes, any time after the game has finished. Families still get the notification.

Why is Session Star greyed out?
Another player already has it for this game. Take it back from them first if you want to give it to someone else.

Why does Award stickers show a Pro page?
Stickers are part of Squadd Pro. During your free trial they work in full. After that, a team on the free plan sees what Pro includes when it taps Award stickers. See Managing Your Squadd Subscription.
