Removing a Player from Your Squad

Overview

Removing a player deactivates them — it doesn't permanently delete their record. Their historical stats, match events, and availability responses are all preserved.

How to Remove a Player

  1. Tap Squad
  2. Find the player's row
  3. Tap the 🗑 trash icon on their row
  4. Confirm the action

The player disappears from the squad list immediately and no longer appears in availability requests, lineup selections, or future fixtures.

What Happens After Removal

Data Outcome
Season stats (goals, assists, minutes) ✅ Preserved
Match events and match reports ✅ Preserved
Availability responses (past) ✅ Preserved
Guardian links ✅ Preserved — linked parents retain their accounts
Appears in new fixtures / lineups ❌ No longer shown
Receives availability requests ❌ Stopped

Guardian links are not removed — if you re-add the player later, parents will still be connected.

When to Remove a Player

  • A player has left the club or moved to another team
  • A player is on long-term loan and won't return this season
  • A duplicate player record was created by mistake

For short-term absences (injury, holiday, suspension) use the Unavailability feature instead — this keeps the player active while marking them unavailable for specific date ranges.

Reinstating a Player

Reactivation is not currently available through the app. If you've removed a player by mistake or they've re-joined the club, contact support@squadd.co.uk and we'll reactivate their record.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will removing a player affect this season's team stats?
No. Their historical goals, assists, and minutes remain in the season totals and stats history.

Can coaches (non-admins) remove players?
Yes — player deactivation is available to all coaches and admins.

A parent is asking why they can't see their child in the squad — what happened?
The player may have been deactivated. Contact support to reactivate, or create a new player record and re-link the guardian.

I need to remove a duplicate player — which one should I delete?
Delete the one with fewer match records attached. Check each player's stats (via the Stats tab) to see which has the historical data you want to keep.
