Removing or Deleting a Player

Overview

There are two ways to take a player off your squad, and they do very different things:

• Remove from squad hides the player and keeps their record. Use it when a player leaves the club or moves team. Their goals, minutes and other stats stay in your season totals.
• Delete permanently deletes the player's record and everything tied to it. Use it when a parent asks for their child's details to be deleted. It can't be undone.

Only coaches and admins can do either.

How to Remove a Player

1. Tap Squad
2. Press and hold the player's name
3. Tap Remove from squad
4. Confirm

The player disappears from the squad list straight away and no longer appears in availability requests, lineup selections, or future fixtures.

What Happens After Removal

Guardian links are not removed, so if the player comes back later, their parents are still connected.

For short-term absences (injury, holiday, suspension) use the Unavailability feature instead. It keeps the player active while marking them unavailable for specific dates.

How to Delete a Player Permanently

1. Tap Squad
2. Tap the player's name to open their player card
3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete player permanently
4. Tap Delete to confirm

Or press and hold the player's name on the Squad list and tap Delete permanently.

What's Deleted

• Their name, date of birth, photo, and medical and emergency details
• Their links to parents (the parents keep their own Squadd accounts)
• Their availability answers and training and event attendance
• Their minutes, goals, assists, cards, saves, ratings, stickers, milestones and Player of the Match votes
• Their subs and payment records
• Their Time Capsule voice notes and the Wrapped share images made for them
• Their entry in past seasons' records

Their files (photo, voice notes, share images) are removed from storage within the hour.

What Stays

• Match results. A goal they scored comes off the scorers list, along with any assist on it, but the score stays as it was. If they were a game's Player of the Match, Player of the Day or captain, that game no longer shows one.
• What people wrote about them. Feed posts, match reports, chat messages and coach notes that mention them by name stay as they were written. A feed post can be deleted by whoever posted it or a team admin. For anything else, email hello@squadd.co.uk and we'll remove it.
• Their own account, on senior teams. If the player has their own Squadd login, deleting the player record doesn't delete their account or take them off the team. Remove them in Settings → Members if they've left.

You can't delete a player who's in a match that's being played. Wait until full time, then delete them.

Reinstating a Player

Removed players: reinstating isn't available in the app yet. If you removed a player by mistake or they've rejoined the club, contact support@squadd.co.uk and we'll reactivate their record.

Deleted players can't be brought back. Add them again as a new player if you need to.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will removing a player affect this season's team stats?
No. Their goals, assists and minutes stay in the season totals and stats history.

A parent has asked us to delete their child's details. What do I do?
Use Delete permanently. It deletes the child's record and everything listed above straight away. If the child's name appears in posts or messages you'd also like gone, email us.

Can coaches (non-admins) remove or delete players?
Yes. Both are available to all coaches and admins.

A parent is asking why they can't see their child in the squad. What happened?
The player may have been removed. Contact support to reactivate them, or create a new player record and re-link the guardian.

I need to get rid of a duplicate player. Which one should I delete?
Keep the one with the match history. Check each player's stats (via the Stats tab) first, because the stats of the one you delete permanently go with it.
