Posting one report for a whole match day

Overview

A festival is three, four, sometimes six games in a morning. Writing a match report for each one is more than anybody does on a Sunday afternoon, and families end up hearing either four separate notifications or nothing at all.

The day report is one post for the whole day. It builds itself from what you already recorded during the games, you add a line of your own if you want to, and it goes to the team feed with a single notification.

Posting one

  1. Open the match day from Fixtures.
  2. Scroll to the 📋 Day report card. It appears once one of your games has a score on it.
  3. Check the preview, then tap Publish day report.
  4. The sheet shows exactly what will be posted. Add a line of your own if you'd like, then tap Post & notify.

The card is only visible to coaches and admins. Families see the post itself in the team feed, with a DAY REPORT tag on it.

What goes in it

  • The day's record — how many games, won, drew, lost, goals scored and conceded, and any clean sheets
  • Every game, written out in the order they were played
  • Who scored, and how many each
  • The Player of the Day, if you've picked one
  • Your own line, if you add one

It writes itself from the games, so it reads differently every week: a morning where nothing went right says so just as plainly as one where everything did. The line you add is the only part that is yours, and it goes at the end.

Updating it

Post it whenever you like, including before the last game has finished. When the rest are played, open the card again and tap Update day report: it replaces the post rather than adding a second one, so nobody gets notified twice about the same day.

The card shows when it was last posted, so you can see at a glance whether the day has been shared.

What it doesn't include

  • Games still to be played, and games played but never given a score. They're left out rather than listed as missing, so the report is only ever what actually happened. If you forgot to record a result, add it to the game and update the report.
  • Other teams' games on a day you're hosting. They're on your schedule so the day reads properly, but they're not your results.
  • Man of the Match, ratings and your coach's notes. Those live on each game's own match report, which is unchanged and still there when a particular game deserves writing up.

Day report or match report?

Both, or either. They don't interfere with each other.

  • A day report suits a festival or tournament: one post, one notification, the whole morning in it.
  • A match report suits a single standout game: Man of the Match, player ratings, private coach's notes, and a photo.

If you publish a match report for one game of a festival and a day report for the day, families see both, and neither replaces the other.
