Getting Started as a Parent

Overview

Welcome to Squadd. This guide walks you through joining your child's team, linking to your child's player record, and getting set up to respond to fixtures and training.

The whole process takes about two minutes.

Step 1 — Download the App

Download Squadd from the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android). It's free to download.

Step 2 — Create Your Account

Your coach will have sent you an invite link — usually shared in your team WhatsApp group. It looks like this:

Join our Squadd team "Under 9s Eagles":

https://www.squadd.co.uk/join/abc123…

Tap the link on your phone. It will open the app (or take you to the store to download it first).

On the sign-up screen:

  1. Enter your first name, last name, and email address
  2. Choose a password (at least 6 characters)
  3. The invite code from the link will be filled in automatically — if it isn't, paste it from the message your coach sent
  4. Tick the box to accept the Terms & Privacy Policy
  5. Tap Create account

💡 Already have Squadd? If you're already a member of another team on Squadd, go to Settings → Join another team and paste the invite code there instead of creating a new account.

Joining the team gives you access to the schedule, newsfeed, and chat. To receive availability requests for your child and view their stats, you need to link yourself to their player record.

There are two ways to do this:

Option A — Your child is already on the squad (most common)

Your coach has likely already added your child to the squad. You can link yourself in seconds:

  1. Tap Squad in the bottom navigation
  2. Find your child's name in the list
  3. Tap the person+ icon on their row
  4. Confirm the link request

Your coach will approve the request — once approved, you're linked and will start receiving availability requests for your child.

Option B — Your child is not yet on the squad

If your child hasn't been added yet:

  1. Tap Squad
  2. Tap Add My Child
  3. Enter your child's details (name, position, date of birth)
  4. Tick the consent checkbox confirming you are their parent or legal guardian
  5. Tap Add

If a player with the same name already exists, Squadd will flag this for your coach to review. Once they confirm the link, you'll be connected automatically.

What You Can Do Once Linked

Once you're linked to your child:

  • Respond to fixture and training availability — available, maybe, or unavailable
  • Mark your child as long-term unavailable — for injuries, holidays, or other extended absences
  • View upcoming fixtures and match reports — scores, goal scorers, Man of the Match
  • Vote for Parents' Player of the Match — after each match (if your coach has enabled this)
  • View your child's season stats — goals, assists, training attendance (if your coach shares stats with parents)
  • Claim volunteer tasks — take on match-day jobs like running the line or bringing snacks

Frequently Asked Questions

The invite link isn't working — what do I do?
Ask your coach to check the link hasn't been revoked and to share it again. Alternatively, they can generate a fresh invite link and share the code directly.

I created an account but I'm not in the team — what happened?
The invite code may not have been entered during sign-up. Go to Settings → Join another team, paste the code your coach shared, and tap Join team.

Can both parents link to the same child?
Yes — a child can have multiple guardians in Squadd. Each parent follows the same linking process independently.

My child's name is listed twice — what should I do?
Let your coach know. They can review the duplicate and merge or remove the extra record.

I can see the squad but can't find my child's name.
Your coach may not have added your child yet. Use Add My Child (Option B above) to add them. Your coach will see a link request to connect you to the player record.
