Responding to Fixture Availability
Overview
When your coach creates a fixture or training session, you'll receive a notification asking whether your child can attend. Responding promptly helps your coach plan the lineup, organise transport, and avoid last-minute surprises.
Responding to a Fixture
- Open the notification (or tap Fixtures in the bottom navigation and find the upcoming match)
- Tap the fixture to open its detail screen
- Scroll to the Squad Availability section
- Find your child's name and tap one of the three response buttons:
| Button | Meaning |
|---|---|
| ✓ Green checkmark | Available — your child will be there |
| ? Amber circle | Maybe — you're not sure yet |
| ✗ Red X | Unavailable — your child can't make it |
Your response is saved immediately and your coach can see it straight away.

Responding to Training
Training availability works exactly the same way. Open the training session from the Training tab, find your child's name, and tap your response.
Changing Your Response
You can change your response at any time up until the match or training session. Tap a different button and it saves automatically — no confirmation step needed.
If your coach has set an availability deadline, try to respond before that date so they have enough time to plan.
Match Day Availability
If your coach uses Match Days (a day with multiple matches, such as a festival), your response at the Match Day level covers all the individual matches within it. You don't need to respond to each match separately.
Marking Your Child as Long-Term Unavailable
For extended absences — holidays, injuries, or any known period your child can't attend — use the Unavailability feature instead of responding match-by-match.
- Tap Squad
- Find your child's name
- Tap the medkit icon on their row
- Enter a reason (e.g. "Family holiday" or "Knee injury")
- Set a start date and optionally an end date
- Tap Add unavailability
Your child will automatically show as unavailable on any fixture or training session within that date window. You can add multiple overlapping unavailability periods (e.g. an injury that extends through a holiday).
To remove an unavailability period, tap the 🗑 trash icon next to it.

Frequently Asked Questions
I can't see the response buttons on a fixture — why?
You need to be linked as a guardian to your child before you can respond on their behalf. If you're not linked yet, see Getting Started as a Parent.
Do I need to respond to every fixture?
Your coach will appreciate any response — even "unavailable" helps them plan. An unanswered fixture counts as "awaiting" and your coach may send a nudge reminder.
My response buttons are greyed out — what does that mean?
The fixture may have a Match Day, in which case availability is set at the Match Day level rather than the individual fixture. Open the Match Day (from the Fixtures tab) and respond there.
Can I see what other parents have responded?
You can see the availability summary (how many are available, maybe, out, or awaiting) but not the names of which other children are coming.
Will my coach be notified when I respond?
Squadd updates the availability count in real time, so your coach will see your response the next time they open the fixture.
