Responding to Fixture Availability
Overview
When your coach adds a match, a match day, a training session or an event, Squadd asks whether your child can make it. Answering early helps your coach plan the lineup, sort out lifts and avoid last-minute surprises.
Answering
- Open the notification, or tap Fixtures (or Training) in the bottom navigation and open the game or session
- Right under the match details, a card asks the question: Can Max make it? (with your child's name). If you have more than one child on the team, it asks Which of your children can make it? and gives each child a row
- Tap Yes, Maybe or No

Your answer saves straight away and your coach can see it. Under the buttons you can tap + Add a note (for example "Arriving at half time"), or Clear answer if you tapped the wrong one.
If your coach has set a reply-by time, the card shows it ("Please answer by Thu 10 Sep, 20:00").
If you play for the team yourself (player accounts on senior teams), the card asks Can you make it? and your row is called You.

The Squad List
Further down the screen is the squad list. Your child's row shows the answer you gave, but you change it on the card at the top.
What you see of the other players depends on your coach's settings:
- Normally you see each player's answer, plus how many have said Yes, Maybe and No
- If your coach has turned on "Hide availability until squad picked", you see only your own child's answer until the coach announces the squad. After that, you see who's in it
Changing Your Answer
You can change your answer any time until:
- A match: kick-off
- A match day: the first game kicks off
- Training or an event: the start time
Tap a different button and it saves straight away. After that point the card shows your answer as a record of what you said. If plans change on the day, message your coach.
Training and Events
Training sessions and events (a presentation night, a fundraiser) work the same way: the card sits at the top of the session or the event. For an event the whole family is invited to, you can also say how many of you are coming.
On the Day: "On Our Way"
On match day, from three hours before kick-off, the card also shows On our way, Running late and Here. Tap whichever is true: your coach sees it next to your child's name straight away, so they know who's coming and who's already there without having to ask on WhatsApp.
Before kick-off it appears once you've answered Yes or Maybe. After kick-off it stays for anyone who didn't say No, in case you're running late. It's separate from your answer, and just for match day itself.
Match Day Availability
If your coach runs a Match Day (a day with several games, such as a festival), you answer once for the whole day. You can answer on the match day screen or on any of its games; either way it covers every game.
If places are limited, the card says so ("Places go to the first 8 who say yes"). Once your coach announces the squad, your child's row shows In the squad or Reserve. A reserve is first in line if a place opens up.
The Evening Before
If your child said Yes to a game tomorrow, Squadd sends you a reminder the evening before with the kick-off time and where to be.
It only says your child is playing once the coach has confirmed the squad, or when there's no squad to pick. Until then it says they're down as available, so you're never told they're playing and then left out.
Marking Your Child as Long-Term Unavailable
For longer absences (holidays, injuries, or any known period your child can't make), use Mark unavailable instead of answering game by game.
- Tap Squad
- Press and hold your child's name
- Tap Mark unavailable
- Enter a reason (e.g. "Family holiday" or "Knee injury")
- Set Starts on and, if you know it, Ends on
- Tap Add unavailability
Your child then shows as out ("Out until Sun 4 Oct") on every match, match day and training session in those dates, and you won't be asked or reminded about them. Events such as a social or presentation night aren't affected. If your child is back early for a game, just answer for it as usual: your answer counts instead of the absence. You can add more than one period (e.g. an injury that runs into a holiday). The reason stays between you and your coach; other parents just see "Out".
To remove a period, tap the 🗑 trash icon next to it.

Frequently Asked Questions
I can't see the card on a fixture. Why?
You need to be linked as a guardian to your child before you can answer for them. If you're not linked yet, see Getting Started as a Parent. The card also only shows while answers are open (and on the day itself), and only for games your child is asked about.
Do I need to answer every fixture?
Your coach will appreciate any answer. Even "No" helps them plan. If you still haven't answered as the match gets close, Squadd sends one automatic reminder (not repeated nagging), and your coach can also send you a reminder at any time.
My team uses Sides. Will I be asked about every game?
No. If your team has Sides turned on, you'll only be asked (and reminded) about games involving your child's side. Whole-squad events that aren't tagged to a side still ask everyone.
Why can't I change my answer from the squad list any more?
Your answer lives on the card at the top of the screen, so you don't have to scroll to find your child. The squad list shows everyone's answers, including yours.
Can I see what other parents have answered?
Normally, yes: the squad list shows each player's answer. If your coach has turned on "Hide availability until squad picked", you only see your own child's answer until the squad is announced.
Will my coach be notified when I answer?
Squadd updates the counts straight away, so your coach sees your answer the next time they open the fixture.
