Posting to the Team Feed
Overview
The Feed is the central communication space for your team in Squadd. Coaches use it to share news, results, reminders, and polls with everyone in the team — all in one place, without the noise of a WhatsApp group.
Parents can read and react to posts. Only coaches and team admins can publish.
What Appears in the Feed
The feed shows five types of content:
| Type | Created by | When |
|---|---|---|
| Post | Coach (manual) | Whenever you have something to share |
| Poll | Coach (manual) | When you need a quick team decision or headcount |
| Match Summary | Automatic | When you publish a match report |
| Goal Alert | Automatic | Each time you record a goal during a live match |
| Availability Reminder | System | When availability deadlines are approaching |
Writing a Post
- Tap Feed in the bottom navigation
- Tap the + button (top-right)
- Optionally add a Title (e.g. "Big win tonight!")
- Write your message in the body field
- Tap Post
Your post appears at the top of the feed immediately. All team members — coaches and parents — can read it.

Tips for effective posts:
- Keep it brief — parents skim the feed between pickups and work
- Lead with the most important information (score, time, next fixture)
- Use the title for key facts ("Kit required — training Thursday") so the headline is visible in notification previews
Creating a Poll
Polls are a fast way to get a team decision — kit colour votes, tournament sign-ups, end-of-season celebration venue.
- Tap + to open the compose screen
- Tap Poll (the tab at the top of the compose screen)
- Enter your question (e.g. "Can your child attend the end-of-season tournament?")
- Enter at least two options — tap + Add option to include more (up to six)
- Toggle Allow multiple answers on if parents should be able to select more than one option
- Tap Post
Viewing poll results
Poll results appear on the post in real time. For each option you see:
- A bar chart showing the percentage of votes
- The raw vote count
As a coach, you can also see which parents voted for which option — useful for headcounts where individual responses matter.
Closing a poll
When you're ready to stop accepting votes:
- Find the poll in the feed
- Tap Close poll
Closed polls are locked — no new votes can be cast. The results remain visible to everyone.
💡 Polls don't close automatically by date. Remember to close the poll once you have your answer, so parents know the decision is final.
Match Summaries
A Match Summary post is created automatically when you publish a match report from the fixture detail screen. You don't need to write it manually.
The post includes:
- The final score
- Goal scorers with approximate minutes
- Man of the Match (if selected)
- A "Parents' Player of the Match voting is now open" notice (if that module is enabled)
Parents can tap View fixture on the post to see the full fixture detail.
See Completing the Match Report for how to publish.
Goal Alerts
During a live match, every goal you record automatically posts a Goal Alert to the feed in real time. Parents watching from home can follow along.
These posts are created instantly — there is no option to suppress them during a live match. If you accidentally record an incorrect goal, correct it in the live match screen and the feed post will reflect the updated score.
Reactions
Parents and coaches can react to any post with:
- ❤️ Like
- 👏 Celebrate
Each person can add one reaction per post. Tapping a reaction you've already added removes it.
As a coach, you can see exactly who reacted — the names are listed below the reaction counts. Parents see only the total counts, not names.
Deleting a Post
To delete a post you created:
- Find it in the feed
- Tap the Delete option (accessible via the menu on the post)
- Confirm deletion
The post is removed immediately from all team members' feeds. Team Admins can delete any post, not just their own.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I edit a post after publishing?
Not currently. If you need to correct a post, delete it and write a new one.
Can I schedule a post to go out at a specific time?
Not currently. Posts publish immediately.
Can I add a photo or image to a post?
Not currently. Photo sharing is handled through the Photo Gallery module (attached to individual fixtures). Free-text posts are text-only.
Will parents get a push notification for every post?
Yes — a push notification is sent to all team members when a new post is published. Encourage parents to keep notifications enabled so they don't miss important updates.
Can I post to just the coaching staff, not the whole team?
The newsfeed is shared with all team members. For coach-only communication, use the Coaches Chat channel, which is restricted to coaches and admins. See Using Team Chat.
How many options can a poll have?
Between two and six options.
Can parents vote in a poll without responding to availability?
Yes. Polls and availability are independent. A parent can vote in a poll even if they haven't responded to an upcoming fixture.
