Fair-Play Helpers
Overview
The Fair-Play Helpers module gives coaches real-time tools to keep pitch time equitable during a match. It's on by default for all teams — turn it off only if your team doesn't need rotation prompts.
What's Included
Fair-Play Helpers provides three things during a live match:
1. Playing-time warning
A ⚠️ warning appears next to any player projected to finish the match below 50% of total match time.
The warning activates after 40% of the match has elapsed — early enough to act on, late enough that it's meaningful rather than constantly firing for bench players who started the second half.
2. Suggested fair-play swap (⇄ button)
Every player row on the live match screen shows a ⇄ button. Tapping it instantly performs the fairest possible swap:
- Off: the player currently on the pitch with the most accumulated minutes
- On: the bench player with the fewest accumulated minutes
The swap executes immediately with no confirmation. The GK is excluded from this algorithm — it will never select a goalkeeper as the outgoing player.
⚠️ There is no undo. If you tap ⇄ by mistake, record a manual substitution (+ Event → Substitution) to reverse it.
3. Sub window reminders
During the match, Squadd tracks the sub windows from your pre-match rotation plan (set at 25%, 50%, and 75% of match time by default). A reminder prompt appears as each window approaches so you don't miss a planned rotation.
Turning Fair-Play Helpers Off
Some coaches — particularly at older or more competitive age groups — prefer to manage substitutions without rotation prompts.
- Go to Settings → Optional modules
- Toggle Fair-play helpers off
With the module off:
- The ⇄ swap button is removed from the live match screen
- Playing-time warnings no longer appear
- Sub window reminders are suppressed
- The pre-match rotation plan and Fairness score in the lineup builder remain available regardless of this setting
Frequently Asked Questions
Does turning off Fair-Play Helpers affect the lineup builder?
No. The fairness score and projected minutes in the lineup builder are always shown. Fair-Play Helpers only affects what you see during the live match.
Can I use the ⇄ button and also record manual subs?
Yes — both methods work side by side. Use ⇄ for quick fair-play swaps, and + Event → Substitution for deliberate tactical changes where you choose specific players.
The ⚠️ warning is showing for a player who only just came on — is that right?
It can happen early in the second half for a player who sat out the whole first half. The algorithm projects forward from the current minute — if there isn't enough time left for them to reach 50%, the warning fires. Use the ⇄ button to get them on.
Does this module affect season stats?
No. Stats are always recorded from match events regardless of whether Fair-Play Helpers is on or off.
