Goalkeeper Tracking
Overview
The Goalkeeper Tracking module adds save recording to the live match screen and a Goalkeeper of the Match award to the match report. Saves and clean sheets are tracked in season stats separately from outfield performance.
Enabling Goalkeeper Tracking
- Go to Settings → Optional modules
- Toggle Goalkeeper tracking on
The Save button and GKOTM award appear immediately for all future matches.
Recording Saves During a Match
With the module enabled, a Save button appears on the goalkeeper's row in the live match screen (once you've tapped Start Match).
Tap the Save button after each save:
- If one goalkeeper is on the pitch: A prompt appears — Regular save or Penalty save? — select the type and it's recorded at the current minute.
- If two goalkeepers are on the pitch (after a GK substitution): A picker appears first — select which goalkeeper made the save — then choose the type.
Each tap records one save. Save types are tracked separately in stats:
- Saves = regular saves + penalty saves combined
- The match report shows the breakdown (e.g. "5 saves, incl. 1 pen")
💡 The Save button is only active after Start Match is tapped — you can't log saves before the clock is running.
Goalkeeper of the Match
The match report includes a Goalkeeper of the Match picker alongside Man of the Match.
- Open the fixture → Match Report
- Scroll to the Goalkeeper of the Match section
- Tap to open the player picker — only players with Goalkeeper as their primary position are listed
- Select the GK and save the report
GKOTM is included in the published match summary post to the team feed.
Goalkeeper Stats
When this module is enabled, two additional columns appear on the Stats tab:
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| 🧤 Saves | Total saves (regular + penalty) across all fixtures this season |
| 🧱 Clean sheets | Fixtures where the player was on the pitch and the opponent scored zero |
| 🧤⭐ GKOTM | Number of Goalkeeper of the Match awards this season |
Clean sheets are calculated automatically — if your goalkeeper played any minutes in a match that ended with the opponent scoring 0, it counts.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a dedicated goalkeeper to use this module?
No — but the stats are most useful when you have at least one player who primarily plays in goal. The GKOTM picker only shows players with Goalkeeper as their primary position.
What if my goalkeeper changes during a season — do old saves transfer?
Saves are linked to the individual player who made them, not the GK position. Saves recorded against each player accumulate correctly regardless of mid-season changes.
Can parents see save counts?
Yes — saves, clean sheets, and GKOTM count appear on the Stats tab. If you have stats visible to parents enabled, they'll see these columns.
What happens to the Save button if I disable the module mid-season?
The button disappears from new matches. Previously recorded saves remain in stats permanently.
I forgot to record saves during a match — can I add them retrospectively?
Not through the app. Contact support@squadd.co.uk if you need to correct save data for a completed match.
