The Score on My Match Is Wrong — How Do I Fix It?

Where scores come from

A fixture's score normally comes from the goal events recorded during a live match. Whatever the cause, a finished match isn't locked — the Match Report has a built-in post-match editor where you can correct the final score, the individual goal events, and per-player minutes. Pick the fix below that matches what's wrong.

Fix 1 — Correct the final score

To change the score directly:

  1. Open the fixture → Match Report
  2. Adjust each team's score using the + / − steppers
  3. Save the report (or Update & repost if you've already published)

This is the quickest fix if the number is wrong but you don't need to change the individual goal events.

Fix 2 — Correct a scorer, assist or own goal

If a goal is attributed to the wrong player, an assist is wrong, or a goal was tapped by mistake (or missed):

  1. Open the fixture → Match Report
  2. Tap "Edit goals & events" to open the match timeline
  3. Re-attribute the goal to the correct scorer, fix or add the assist, delete an extra goal, or record an own goal for either team

The score on the match report updates automatically once the events are corrected.

⚠️ If you've already published the match report, correcting events updates the fixture but does not automatically update the feed post already published to the team news. Save again (Update & repost) to send a fresh match summary, or delete the old feed post and republish.

Fix 2b — Correct per-player minutes

If the score is right but a player's minutes look wrong (for example they show 0 because the live timer wasn't running):

  1. Open the fixture → Match Report
  2. Edit each player's minutes directly — use the "Even split" button to divide the match time evenly across the squad as a starting point, then fine-tune individuals

Fix 3 — Match is showing as in progress but it's finished

If you forgot to tap Full Time, the fixture may still show as in progress with an incomplete score.

  1. Open the fixture detail
  2. Tap Full Time to close the match
  3. The result locks in and parents receive the result notification

Fix 4 — Result shows 0–0 but goals were scored

This usually means the match was ended before any goals were logged.

Open the fixture → Match Report and tap "Edit goals & events". If goals are already on the timeline, the score will reflect them correctly. If the timeline is empty, add each goal there (you can do this even after the match has ended) — or, if you only need the scoreline rather than individual scorers, set it directly with the + / − steppers.

Fix 5 — Old festival (neutral-venue) result looks inverted

Festival and tournament fixtures are played at a neutral venue, and older results for them could display back-to-front (a win shown as a loss). This is now fixed, so new and corrected results display the right way round.

If an old festival result still looks inverted, just re-save the correct scoreline: open the fixture → Match Report and set the score with the + / − steppers so it reads correctly from your team's perspective.

Can I correct a score on a published match report?
Yes — editing the score on the match report and saving re-saves the result. The fixture detail updates immediately. The team feed post (match summary) is not retroactively updated — see Fix 2 above if you've already published.

Can parents correct a score?
No — only coaches and team admins can edit fixtures, match events, or match reports.

The league table on an external website shows the wrong score — can Squadd fix that?
Squadd stats are unofficial and not connected to any league system. If the score needs correcting with your league or COMET, update it there directly using your league's process.
