Adding a Fixture to an Existing Match Day
Overview
If you've already created a Match Day but need to add another game — a late addition to a festival, an extra friendly worked into the schedule — you can add fixtures to an existing Match Day directly from the Match Day detail screen.
How to Add a Match
- Tap Fixtures and open the Match Day
- On the Match Day detail screen, scroll to the Matches section
- Tap the + Add match button
- Fill in the fixture details (see below)
- Tap Create fixture
The new fixture is linked to the Match Day immediately and inherits the day's availability responses — parents don't need to respond again.
What's Pre-Filled
Because the Match Day already defines the day's core details, several fields are pre-filled for you:
| Field | Pre-filled from |
|---|---|
| Date | Match Day date |
| Format | Match Day format |
| Match duration | Match Day default match minutes |
| Half duration | Match Day default half minutes |
| Side tag | Match Day side tag (if set) |
You still need to enter:
- Opponent name (required)
- Home / Away / Neutral (required)
- Match type (league, cup, friendly, tournament)
- Location (optional — leave blank to inherit the Match Day location)
- Notes (optional)
- Meet at time (optional)
How Many Fixtures Can I Add?
There's no limit. You can add as many fixtures as the day requires. Each appears as a separate entry in the Match Day's fixtures list and can have a different opponent, home/away status, and notes.
Availability for Added Fixtures
Fixtures added to a Match Day inherit the Match Day-level availability response. Parents who already responded to the Match Day (available / maybe / unavailable) are automatically applied to the new fixture — no additional prompting needed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I move an existing standalone fixture into a Match Day?
Not currently — the Match Day link is set at fixture creation. To move a fixture, you'd need to delete it and recreate it within the Match Day.
Can I add a fixture with a different format to the same Match Day?
The format is pre-filled from the Match Day and can't be changed for fixtures within it. If you need a different format for one game, create a standalone fixture instead.
Will adding a fixture send a notification to parents?
Parents receive their standard fixture and Match Day notifications but won't receive a specific "new match added" push. Post a message in the team feed if you want to alert parents to the addition.
