Using the Fixture Planner (Festivals & Round-Robins)
Overview
The Fixture Planner generates a complete round-robin tournament schedule automatically. Give it your list of teams, the number of pitches, and a few timing details — it works out all the pairings, kick-off times, and pitch assignments, then creates the full fixture list in one go.
Use it for festivals, mini-tournaments, or any event where your squad plays multiple teams across one day.
Opening the Planner
- Tap Fixtures in the bottom navigation
- Tap the planner icon (top of the Fixtures screen)
Setting Up the Tournament
Event details
| Field | Required? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Tournament name | Optional | e.g. "Spring Festival" — appears on the schedule |
| Date | Required | The day of the event |
| Location | Optional | e.g. "Riverside Sports Ground" |
| Postcode | Optional | Used for directions |
| Format | Required | 5v5, 7v7, 9v9, or 11v11 |
Teams
Enter the names of the visiting teams — up to 16. Your own team is included automatically.
Tap + Add team for each opponent. You need at least 2 visiting teams (so 3 teams total including yours).
💡 If you have an odd number of teams, one team gets a bye in each round. Squadd handles this automatically — bye rounds simply don't appear as fixtures.
Pitch setup
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Number of pitches | 1–8. More pitches = more games running simultaneously |
| Match duration | Minutes per game (5–120) |
| Half duration | Set to 0 for no halves |
| Break between matches | 0–30 minutes rest between each team's games |
Generating the Schedule
Tap Generate schedule to preview the full round-robin.
The schedule shows every match with:
- Round number
- Kick-off time (auto-calculated from your start time, duration, and breaks)
- Pitch number
- The two teams playing
Review the schedule — if the timing doesn't look right, adjust the pitch count or break duration and regenerate.
You can also share the schedule before creating it — tap the share icon to copy the fixture list as text and paste it into a WhatsApp message or print it for the day.
Creating the Match Day
When you're happy with the schedule, tap Create match day.
Squadd creates:
- A Match Day record for the event
- A fixture for each round-robin match (excluding bye rounds)
All fixtures appear on the Fixtures tab linked to the Match Day. You can tap into any individual fixture to record events, or manage the whole day from the Match Day detail screen.
Availability for Festivals
Because all fixtures share the same match day, parents respond to availability once at the Match Day level — not separately for each game. Their response covers every match in the festival automatically.
On the Day
Each individual fixture in the festival can be managed independently:
- Record goals, cards, and subs per game using the live match screen
- Enter results for each match
- Track stats — all events feed into season stats exactly like standalone fixtures
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I edit the schedule after creating it?
Individual fixtures can be edited (opponent name, time, location). You can also add or delete fixtures from the Match Day. You can't re-run the planner against an existing Match Day — generate a new schedule if you need to start over.
What happens if a team pulls out last minute?
Delete that team's fixtures from the Match Day. The remaining schedule isn't automatically recalculated — you'll need to manually adjust kick-off times if needed.
Do all the games count towards season stats?
Yes — goals, assists, minutes played, and cards from each festival game all count in season stats exactly like any other fixture.
Can I plan a festival with different formats on different pitches?
Not currently — the Planner uses a single format for all games in the event.
Is there a limit on the number of teams I can enter?
Up to 16 teams (including yours).
