COMET Reminders

Applies to: FAW (Football Association of Wales) teams only

What Is COMET?

COMET is the FAW's (Football Association of Wales) online match reporting system. FAW-registered teams are required to:

  • Submit a team sheet on match day before kick-off
  • Enter the match result within 2 hours of full time

Missing these deadlines carries financial penalties — £20 for a late team sheet, £15 for a late result entry.

Squadd does not submit data to COMET directly. It sends timely push notification reminders to coaching staff so deadlines aren't missed.

Who This Applies To

COMET reminders only activate if all of these are true:

  • Your team's League Association is set to FAW (Settings → Edit team details → Association)
  • The fixture is tagged as League match type
  • COMET reminders is toggled on in Settings (it's on by default for FAW teams)

No other association (FA, SFA, IFA) uses this feature.

The Pre-Match Reminder

On the morning of each league fixture, coaches receive a push notification reminding them to submit the team sheet on COMET.

For Mini Football (U6–U11):
Sent at 8:00 am on match day.
"Submit your team sheet on COMET between 8am–1pm today. KO [time]."

For Competitive (U12 and above):
Sent at 8:00 am or 3 hours before kick-off, whichever is later.
"Confirm your line-up on COMET — must be done at least 15 min before KO ([time]). Doing it earlier today is fine; the day before is a £20 fine."

⚠️ FAW rules prohibit submitting the team sheet the day before the match. The reminder is timed accordingly.

The Post-Match Reminder

For home teams, approximately 30–90 minutes after the estimated full time, coaches receive a second notification to enter the result.

"As home club, enter the score on COMET within 2 hours of full time (£15 fine if late)."

Tapping the notification opens Squadd on the fixture detail screen. You then log into COMET separately to submit the result.

This reminder is only sent to the home team — the FAW requires the home club to enter the result.

Mini Football (U6–U11) do not receive a post-match reminder — there is no post-match COMET deadline for that age group.

Turning COMET Reminders Off

If you find the reminders disruptive, or you manage COMET through a different workflow:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Under the FAW section, toggle COMET reminders off

Turning this off suppresses both the pre-match and post-match nudges for all future league fixtures.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Squadd submit anything to COMET automatically?
No — Squadd is entirely separate from COMET. The reminders are push notifications only. You still need to log into the FAW COMET system yourself to submit team sheets and results.

I'm a Welsh team but I don't see COMET reminders — why?
Check that your team's Association is set to FAW (Settings → Edit team details) and that the fixture is tagged as League match type. Both must be set for reminders to fire.

The reminder didn't arrive — what should I check?
Coaches need push notifications enabled on their device. See Parents Aren't Receiving Notifications for the full checklist — the same steps apply to coaches.

Do parents get COMET reminders?
No — COMET reminders go to coaches and team admins only.
