Coach Quick-Start Checklist

Overview

New to Squadd? This checklist gets you from fresh install to fully set up in around 15 minutes. Follow the steps in order — each one unlocks the next.

Step 1 — Create your account and team

Download Squadd from the App Store or Google Play. Open the app and tap Create a new team.

You'll be asked for:

  • Team name (e.g. "Riverside FC Under 9s")
  • Age group (e.g. U9)
  • Format (5v5, 7v7, 9v9, 11v11)
  • Season start date

You're automatically made the Team Admin.

✅ Done when you can see the main Squadd home screen with your team name.

Step 2 — Add your squad

Tap Squad → + to add each player. At minimum you need their name and primary position. Everything else (photo, date of birth, shirt number) can be filled in later.

💡 Add all your players before inviting parents. That way, when parents join, they can find their child already in the squad and link themselves immediately.

✅ Done when your active players appear on the Squad screen.

Step 3 — Invite your parents (and any other coaches)

Tap Settings → Invite members → Create + copy WhatsApp message.

Paste the message into your team WhatsApp group. That's it — each parent who taps the link and creates an account joins your team automatically.

For any additional coaches, generate a Coach invite under Custom invite, choose the role, and share the token directly.

✅ Done when you see new members appearing under Settings → Members.

Once parents are in the team, they need to link to their child's player record before they can respond to availability.

Tell parents to:

  1. Open Squad
  2. Find their child's name
  3. Tap the person+ icon → confirm the request

You'll see a badge on the Squad screen when requests are waiting. Approve them under Squad → Link Requests.

✅ Done when each player shows at least one guardian name on the squad list.

Step 5 — Set up your training schedule

Tap Training → ⚙️ Schedule → Add weekly slot.

Enter the day, time, duration, and location. Squadd generates the next six weeks of sessions automatically and parents start receiving availability requests for each one.

If you train on multiple days, add a slot for each day.

✅ Done when upcoming sessions appear on the Training tab.

Step 6 — Create your first fixture

Tap Fixtures → + and choose Single Match or Match Day (for festivals with multiple games).

Fill in the opponent, date, kick-off time, and location. Squadd sends availability requests to parents automatically.

✅ Done when the fixture appears on the Fixtures list and parents can see it.

Step 7 — Turn on any modules you need

Go to Settings → Optional modules and enable the features relevant to your team:

Enable this… …if you want to
Volunteer tasks Let parents claim match-day jobs (lines, nets, snacks)
Shirt numbers Show squad numbers throughout the app
Photo gallery Let parents share match photos
Parents' Player of the Match Let parents vote after each match
Subs & payments Track monthly subs and one-off charges
Goalkeeper tracking Record saves and award GK of the Match

Everything else can be left at its default for now.

✅ Done when your chosen modules show the green toggle.

You're live!

Here's what happens from here automatically:

  • Parents receive availability requests 24 hours before each fixture and training session
  • Daily reminders go out on the morning of match days and training
  • Match summaries are posted to the feed as soon as you publish a match report
  • Goal alerts go to the feed in real time during live matches

Your first match-day workflow

When match day arrives:

  1. Check availability — open the fixture, see who's coming
  2. Build the lineup — Fixtures → [match] → Lineup — Squadd auto-generates a fair-play rotation
  3. Start the match — tap Start Match on the fixture detail
  4. Record events — tap + Event for goals, assists, cards, subs
  5. Mark half time — tap Half Time, then Second Half when play resumes
  6. End the match — tap Full Time — parents receive the result instantly
  7. Write the report — rate players, pick MOTM, add coach notes, then Publish to feed
