What Parents Can and Can't Do in Squadd
Overview
This article is a quick reference for coaches and parents on exactly what the parent role can see and do in Squadd. Share it with parents who are new to the app, or use it yourself to answer "why can't I see X?" questions.
What Parents Can Do
Fixtures & availability
- View the full fixture schedule (upcoming and past)
- See match details — date, time, location, format, kick-off time, meet-at-pitch time, notes
- Get directions to the venue
- Respond to fixture availability for their linked child (available / maybe / unavailable)
- Respond to training availability for their linked child
- Mark their child as long-term unavailable (injury, holiday) with a date range
Match reports & results
- View published match reports — final score, goal scorers, MOTM, match summary
- See the published feed post when a match report goes live
Player of the Match
- Vote for their Player of the Match after each completed fixture (if enabled by coach)
- Change their vote while voting is open
- See the POTM winner and overall vote results
Squad
- View the squad list — player names, positions, guardian names
- Link themselves to their child's player record (request sent to coach for approval)
- Add their child to the squad (if the child isn't already listed) via Add My Child
- Edit their child's photo, date of birth, positions, and preferred role
- View their child's season stats (if the coach has enabled stats for parents)
Team feed
- Read all posts — match summaries, goal alerts, coach announcements, polls
- React to posts (like ❤️ or celebrate 👏)
- Vote in polls
Chat
- Send and receive messages in the Team channel
- Long-press to report a message
Volunteer tasks
- View tasks posted by coaches for each fixture or training session
- Claim an unclaimed task
- Release a task they've claimed
Photos
- View match-day photos uploaded to the gallery (if Photo Gallery module is enabled)
- Upload photos to the gallery (if Photo Gallery module is enabled)
Payments
- View their child's monthly subs status (if "Show balances to parents" is enabled)
- View one-off charges and whether they've been marked as paid
What Parents Cannot Do
Fixtures
- ❌ Create, edit, or delete fixtures
- ❌ Cancel training sessions
- ❌ See which other specific parents have or haven't responded to availability
- ❌ See the position coverage breakdown (GK / DEF / MID / FWD counts)
Lineup & live match
- ❌ Build or edit the lineup
- ❌ Start, control, or end a live match
- ❌ Record goals, assists, cards, or substitutions
- ❌ Access the live match screen
Match report
- ❌ Write or publish the match report
- ❌ Rate players
- ❌ Select Man of the Match or Goalkeeper of the Match
- ❌ See player ratings (coach-only, never shown to parents)
- ❌ See coach notes (private to coaching staff)
Squad
- ❌ Add players directly (can only add their own child via Add My Child)
- ❌ Edit a player's name or shirt number
- ❌ Deactivate / remove a player from the squad
- ❌ Add or remove guardian links for other players
Stats
- ❌ See the Stats tab at all (unless the coach has enabled "Show stats to parents")
- ❌ See player minutes (hidden even when stats are visible)
- ❌ See player ratings (hidden even when stats are visible)
Settings & admin
- ❌ Change any team settings or module toggles
- ❌ Invite new members to the team
- ❌ Approve or reject guardian link requests
- ❌ Mark payments as paid or unpaid
- ❌ Access the Coaches chat channel
Coach-Controlled Settings That Affect Parents
Some of what parents can see is controlled by the coach:

Frequently Asked Questions (for parents)
Why can't I see the Stats tab?
Your coach hasn't enabled stats for parents yet. Ask them to go to Settings → Show stats to parents and toggle it on.
Why can't I vote for Player of the Match?
The Parents' Player of the Match module needs to be enabled by your coach. It's off by default.
Why can I see the squad but not respond to availability for my child?
You're not yet linked to your child as a guardian. On the Squad screen, find your child and tap the person+ icon to request a link. Your coach will approve it.
I can see the team feed and chat — can I post anything?
You can post in the Team channel in chat. You cannot post to the team feed (news posts are coach-only). You can react to feed posts and vote in polls.
